Caps Fans -- Count Our Blessings

Posted on July 09, 2010

Aren't we all glad we drafted, developed, and retained our two-time MVP in Alex Ovechkin. He signed a 13 year extension. He didn't want to test free agency. He loved our fans and our franchise. He showed respect and love to us and we reciprocated in kind. Same with Nicklas Backstrom, who just signed a 10 year deal with us to be here during his key free agent years too. Phew. What a relief. Fans can fall in love and stay in love with these players and our team for the long term. Our players showed commitment, respect, loyalty, and integrity to the fan base and our community. We are very grateful. When I read some of the articles about the NBA free agency loss of players, I cringe. I know it will happen to us one day. I don't look forward to it. Click here to see a bunch of stories that will make your hair stand up. Wow. So life goes on now in the NBA, and life goes on now in the NHL too. Back to work.

Fehr Signed -- More Young Kids in Town

July 09, 2010

Hope. Promise. Come see the young kids at Kettler next week. Our future -- they will be there. It feels good to get restricted free agents signed without going to arbitration. It means these players believe we are fair in our negotiations, and that they want to be part of something with us
