Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation

The Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards always have been community-minded organizations. As professional sports franchises with deep roots in and around the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, the teams are dedicated to making a difference in the local community. Our players embrace their roles as civic leaders and ambassadors for their teams, and they are committed to being good citizens and contributing to the betterment of our community. One of Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s core values is a double-bottom line that engages, unifies and gives back to the community the organization serves on a daily basis. In line with this philosophy, we have created the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, which supports the charitable efforts of the Capitals, Mystics and Wizards, aligning their causes and unifying their giving while enabling us to have the greatest impact on the community. The Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation promises to be at the forefront of social responsibility in our community by creating, maintaining and supporting charitable programs throughout the Washington metropolitan area that have a focus on five key areas:

  1. amateur basketball and hockey
  2. education and scholarship
  3. pediatric health and fitness
  4. military and veterans’ affairs
  5. hunger and homelessness
The foundation also is committed to supporting the charitable endeavors, initiatives and foundations of our teams’ players and alumni. Our teams are important community institutions, and as a public trust we all recognize the importance of giving back to our community, not just financially but also with our time. Already Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation has made an impact in the community, as our staff completed three services projects in recent months. Through the foundation we pledge to continue investing our time and resources and serving as a positive influence and contributor in our community, and we hope to inspire others to do the same.

When you lose money.   This is a great little psychoanalysis about wealth and investing and how we are grooved to NOT make money. In fact, we are programmed to lose money.   Click here – very sobering pixels.
