"The Patriarch"

I am a couple of hundred pages into the new biography of Joseph P. Kennedy called "The Patriarch"; by David Nasaw.  The book is more than 700 pages long. It is incredibly well researched and written, and for once shines an appropriate and academic light on Mr. Kennedy's life and times. Read this book review from the New York Times here.  He was a giant of a figure - in business, banking, the entertainment industry, philanthropy, and in politics; he was front and center in so many major historical events. It has also been interesting to read about our family home and the role it played in Joseph P. Kennedy's career and life in DC; and how FDR and he met at the house to discuss business - politics and WW II developments in Europe.  This is a major and important biography - based on fact - and footnoted more than any book I can remember reading. I really am enjoying reading this book; a truly great biography.
