When The Team Moves the Ball, Good Things HappenPosted on January 16, 2014 by Ted Leonsis
We really were zipping the ball around; pass after pass, it makes it difficult for teams to set up defensively. That was the game plan, pick up the pace against the Heat, run and play tough defense, and defend the perimeter against the defending champs.
As the fancy stats show - if we move the ball, multiple passes deep into the shot clock, and we shoot 47 percent or more - we are a very good team. A tough team to beat. When we run the floor and generate offense from our defense, we are a very productive team.
After the first period last night, I believe we were shooting better than 75 percent from the floor. We had a 30 plus point lead and had scored 43 points - the most points scored at Verizon Center in its history in one period. For perspective - we only scored 66 points in an entire game a few weeks ago.
Our team played very well and beat the defending champs last night. We are still below 500 at home and for the season as we are 10 and 10 on the road.
It was just one
game, one win in the standings, it was a great way to kick off a
home stand. The fans enjoyed the win. Read and watch and comments from around
