Tough Night - Double Disappointment

Posted on April 10, 2014 by Ted Leonsis

The Caps were eliminated from the playoff picture last night and the Wizards played a very lethargic and uninspired game. We lost in OT to the Bobcats; who now move ahead of us in the standings. We fall to the 7th spot.

The box score is hard to decipher, the Wizards shot 1 for 15 from the three point arc for a 067 %. You read that right, the Bobcats shot 11 for 25 from the 3 point arc. They scored 33 points, we scored 3 points. You read that right! We were out scored by 30 points from the 3 point arc and the game still went to over time.

Two of our starters combined to go 4 for 21 from the field.

We were down by 20 points at one point in the first half.

And still, if we had made one defensive stop with three seconds left to play we would have stolen a victory in regulation. We then went zero for 8 in OT from the field and scored just 1 point.

A mind blowing hard to understand box score and game.

We have four games left to play this regular season.

We have lost all sense of momentum heading into the playoffs, and need to focus on improved state of play. The only bright spot last night was that Nene came back into the line up and played 16 minutes or so; while he looked rusty and his timing was off, it is refreshing to know he will make a big  and positive impact on our team soon enough.

Before the Capitals season started, I was quoted as saying I didn’t see any weakness in our lineup.
