Wizards Playoffs: dcRisingPosted on April 21, 2014 by Ted Leonsis
We knew we would have to win at least one game in Chicago, and it was great to win the first one; now we take sight on Game 2. Despite last night’s outcome, however, I expect this to be a long series between two evenly matched teams; both the Bulls and the Wizards played great basketball after the All-Star break (Chicago 21-9, Washington 19-11).
I’m excited for our fans and city that the NBA playoffs will be returning to D.C. and Verizon Center this weekend – Friday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Claiming the Eastern Conference’s No. 5 seed with a 44-38 record on the last day of the regular season was exciting, a testament to the commitment of our team and a huge “thank you” to our fans who have been so supportive throughout this process, especially this season. I’m looking forward to you being even louder and prouder this weekend. Verizon Center doors open an hour before tip-off, so be sure to get there early, enjoy the pregame festiveness associated with the playoffs and be a participant in our special opening video.
We have a tremendous amount planned, and I’m looking forward to you helping us create an electric atmosphere at the arena. We’ll help with the wardrobe by distributing red-white-and-blue T-shirts created by CustomInk courtesy of GEICO that will create three distinct sections of Verizon Center. Sunday’s game will feature a rally towel giveaway, which is courtesy of GEICO, our presenting partner for the first round. We have a limited number of tickets available, so join the excitement by ordering your tickets here or by calling 800-745-3000.
Wizards Playoff Central presented by Comcast SportsNet, and Monumental Network are your sources for playoff information, including game highlights, player and coach interviews, game previews, analysis, stats, social hub (remember to use #dcRising), viewing parties (Tuesday at Grevey’s, 8130 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church, Va.) and much more.
Locally fans can watch all games on Comcast SportsNet, expect for Sunday’s Game 4, which will be televised nationally by ABC. You can also listen to games on WFED 1500 and WNEW 99.1 as well as via our mobile app and online. TNT (Game 2) and ESPN (Game 3) are outlets for Wizards fans outside the D.C. market. All of your schedule needs are here.
We are all excited to see how the playoffs unfold and how we continue to grow and build our organization. Wizards fans and D.C. – enjoy and embrace the return of NBA playoff basketball.Posted in: Sports
