Last Night on the NHL Cable Channel

Last night on NHL TV, they replayed Alex Ovechkin's debut game in the NHL against the Columbus Blue Jackets. It was the first game after the last lockout. There wasn't a single red shirt in the arena. It seemed like a long time ago. Other than Alex, we don't have a single player still on our team from that opening night squad.

The Capitals won that debut game 3-2. Alex scored two goals and had a smashing hit to open the game that literally shattered the glass. He was the best player on the ice by a wide margin.

We are now in the same division as Columbus, and this was an article that was published today. It is odd for a player who just led the NHL in goals, was a first team All Star in two positions, and was voted MVP to be called "enigmatic".  As noted, welcome to the neighborhood.
